All about the Traffi System

The Traffi System. The Foundation of Traffi. The Original Inventors. Making Hand Protection Simple. All of these tell a story of how we are defined. But what is the Traffi Colour System? What is the system that rocked the safety world of gloves? Allow us to explain…

Back in 2008, all it took to trigger that lightbulb moment was a single comment from a customer, ‘just make hand protection simple.’ And we did.

Before the introduction of the 3 colour Traffi System, safety gloves were anything but straightforward. Available in all sorts of shapes, sizes and finishes, it was perfectly understandable that both Health & Safety Managers and workers alike were thrown into a world of confusion. Imagine being faced with a selection of gloves looking like this:

Many companies were struggling with enforcing a safety glove policy of any kind, due to the nature of the products they were using. Generally, the safety gloves were being sourced from various suppliers and were a wide variety of colours, which made it difficult for workers to know which glove to use for the tasks they were doing.

When we introduced the 3-Colour System, it was revolutionary. The ultimate benefits for the Colour System are that it is:

- Simple

- Universally understandable

- Effective

Simple

It consists of 3 solitary colours which each represent a colour from the Traffic light system that everybody is familiar with. Red signifies ‘Warning’, Amber signifies ‘Be Aware’, and green signifies ‘Safe to Go’. The simplicity of the system makes the glove choosing process so much easier and faster for workers and enables further simplicity when it comes to enforcing a hand protection policy at a company.

Universally Understandable

Whichever nationality you are, whichever language you speak, the Traffi System overcomes any language barriers in a workplace where there is a high chance that multiple nationalities will be present. It’s entirely visual, and with colours being the main theme, there is no requirement for there to be a common tongue.

Effective

Talk about lightening the load for Health and Safety Managers! The beauty of the colour system is that it has been proven to reduce hand injuries, meaning that the Health and Safety Managers will no longer be burdened with piles of paperwork due to extensive injury occurrences. They can enforce a minimum cut level required for tasks, and if workers are not adhering to this, the glove colour can be seen from a distance, so it is easy to observe whether the worker is wearing the right glove for their task.
