SBTI

Traffi were the first safety glove brand to have a fully validated SBTI transitional plan.

At Traffi, we pride ourselves on our laser focus to continually reduce our environmental impact. The process is ever evolving, but our company has committed to the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTI) with an aim to reach 90% reductions by 2050. Working alongside an independently certified organisation, we have already reduced our company's carbon emissions by over 40% over several years.

What are Science Based Targets?

Science-based targets provide a clearly-defined pathway for companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, helping prevent the worst impacts of climate change and future-proof business growth.

Targets are considered 'science-based' if they are in line with what the latest climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement - limiting global warming to 1.5°C above preindustrial levels.

How can companies set a science-based target?

The private sector must play a fundamental role in reducing GHG emissions. Embedding science based targets in sustainability management is crucial.

Setting a science-based target is a five-step process:

  • COMMIT: submit a letter establishing your intent to set a science-based target
  • DEVELOP: work on an emissions reduction target in line with the SBTI's criteria
  • SUBMIT: present your target to the SBTI for official validation
  • COMMUNICATE: announce your target and inform your stakeholders
  • DISCLOSE: report company-wide emissions and track target progress annually

Traffi Commitment

We often get asked what our commitment to SBTI actually means. Well, here's your answer. Having a validated plan approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative signifies Traffi's credible and rigorous commitment to environmental sustainability. For all Traffi glove sellers and wearers, this validation assures you that we are actively addressing climate change in line with scientific recommendations rather than just seeking to make green eco headlines. It demonstrates accountability, transparency and a genuine effort to reduce environmental impact. We are committed to a 46% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 GHG Emissions by 2030 whilst also driving down all Scope 3's.
