SBTI
Traffi were the first safety glove brand to have a fully validated SBTi transitional plan.
At Traffi, we pride ourselves on our unwavering focus on reducing our environmental footprint year after year. While the journey is ongoing, our commitment is clear: we are aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and are working towards a 90% emissions reduction by 2050. Partnering with an independently certified organisation, we have already reduced our operational greenhouse gas emissions by over 40% across several years.
What are Science Based Targets?
Science-based targets provide a clearly defined pathway for companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in line with the latest climate science. They help organisations take meaningful climate action while building resilience, strengthening stakeholder confidence, and supporting long-term business growth.
Targets are considered 'science-based' when they align with what global climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement, limiting global warming to 1.5°C above preindustrial levels.
How can companies set a science-based target?
The private sector has a critical role in global emissions reduction, and integrating science-based targets into sustainability strategies is essential.
Setting a science-based target is a five-step process:
- COMMIT: Submit a letter confirming your intention to set a science-based target
- DEVELOP: Build an emissions reduction plan aligned to SBTi criteria
- SUBMIT: Send your target to the SBTi for official validation
- COMMUNICATE: Publicly announce your target to stakeholders
- DISCLOSE: Report company-wide emissions each year to track progress
Traffi's Commitment
We are often asked what a validated SBTi plan truly means for Traffi. In short, it represents a credible, independently assessed commitment to meaningful climate action. This validation confirms that our strategy is grounded in scientific guidance, ensuring we focus on measurable progress rather than broad environmental claims.
For glove sellers, wearers, and partners, it offers reassurance that Traffi is taking responsible, transparent, and accountable steps to reduce environmental impact. Our approved near-term target commits us to a 46% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, while we simultaneously drive down impacts across all Scope 3 categories.
