OUR JOURNEY

Carbon Neutral Company:

Traffi's Head Office & Operations became certified carbon neutral on 20th September 2020. This was achieved by taking a deep dive into our organisational emissions, such as transport and storage, and also our vehicle and energy usage. From this we were able to calculate our carbon footprint, which was then verified by an independent third party. Then, they helped us to select and support a carbon reduction project that would help us compensate for our own carbon footprint. On having selected an appropriate insetting/offsetting project and committing to it, we were able to become a certified carbon neutral company; an achievement which we are very proud of, and has provided us with a foundation for continued sustainable ventures going forward.

Carbon Neutral Safety Gloves

Traffi were the inventors of the World's First Carbon Neutral Safety Glove Range.

LXT gloves were introduced in 2020, following a desire to provide more sustainable alternatives to the hand protection market. We measured everything, from the sourcing of the materials to the production of the gloves, to their delivery to your door. Once this was measured, the carbon impact was then inset and offset through our involvement in several insetting and offsetting projects. This meant that the LXT range was certified carbon neutral from cradle to gate, and was the very first safety glove range of its kind.

In 2023, LXTs became carbon neutral from cradle to grave. We commissioned new LCA calcs and extended the boundary to include the usage and disposal phases cradle to grave.

World's First Carbon Neutral Disposable Gloves

In 2022, Traffi introduced the world's first carbon neutral disposable glove, the TD02. This came about through tireless collaborations with an independent certified organisation (which was then third party verified), carbon footprint calculations and offsetting projects.

Scope 1, 2 and 3 Emissions

When we talk about reducing our carbon emissions, there is so much more to it. Carbon emissions associated with a company can be split down into 3 categories.

  • Scope 1 Emissions - the direct emissions owned or controlled by a company
  • Scope 2 Emissions - indirect emissions from sources owned or controlled by a company
  • Scope 3 Emissions - all other emissions associated with a company's activities
If you don't measure the manufacturing footprint, then how can you target reduction and focus on the hot spots? Our findings indicate that over 80% of the manufacturing footprint for a glove are to be found upstream of the factory within the raw material extraction, processing, and delivery miles.
