CODE ON CARBON
One of our core values is understanding the true PlanetaryCost® of our business. We recognise our responsibility to assess the full environmental impact of every aspect of our operations, from manufacturing and logistics to the way our products are used and disposed of.
We know that the greenhouse gas emissions generated across our products, operations, and supply chains represent a significant part of our overall planetary impact. Since 2014, we have followed a clear and continually developing roadmap for how Traffi measures, manages, and meaningfully reduces these emissions. This framework is known as the Traffi Code on Carbon.
Calculate
Traffi measures the emissions associated with our operations, logistics, and product lifecycle. We believe we remain one of the only safety glove companies in the world to have calculated the footprint of most of our products and with the remaining assessments underway using a full cradle-to-grave boundary. This assessment considers everything from raw material extraction through to end-of-life disposal. Our external partners use the latest emission factors from the ecoinvent database and state-of-the-art SimaPro modelling tools to ensure accuracy and scientific rigour. Additionally, Traffi's organisational footprint is measured in accordance with globally recognised standards including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and ISO 14064-1.
Confirm
Evidentiary Proof is another fundamental Traffi value. Transparency and independent verification are essential to our sustainability approach. All product-level emissions calculations undergo third-party verification and are assessed to ISO 14067. Our organisational emissions inventory is independently verified to the ISO 14064-1 standard. This commitment to rigorous validation ensures our claims are credible, comprehensive, and aligned with best practice, avoiding the vague or overstated environmental claims that are all too common in the industry.
Curtail
Measuring emissions is only the starting point. With climate change affecting daily life and global supply chains, we believe responsible companies must take meaningful action to reduce the emissions they generate. That is why Traffi committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), becoming the first safety glove company to adopt both near-term and long-term reduction targets and to have these targets validated. We have already achieved a significant reduction of more than 40% against our baseline, with a validated near-term target of 46% for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, alongside active efforts to reduce impacts across all Scope 3 categories.
Compensate
While long-term reductions are essential, we also take responsibility for the environmental impact of our current operations. Traffi supports high-quality, independently verified climate-positive projects that help address unavoidable emissions within our global footprint. These projects include recognised international carbon programmes and certified initiatives within our supply chain. Our focus is on credible, traceable contributions that support global climate mitigation efforts, without making overstated claims or implying that our products or organisation have no impact.
