If you’ve been following the Traffi story for any length of time, you’ll hopefully know that we’re no strangers to pushing the envelope. Hand protection is evolving, and with our fantastic product team, we’ve introduced a few world firsts in recent years. Now, it’s time for another.
Traffi’s TG6240 has the world’s first industrial hand protection glove Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which could represent a turning point for sustainable PPE.
An Environmental Product Declaration is, as the name suggests, a form of environmental declaration that quantifies environmental information about the life cycle of a product. It’s an internationally recognised, third-party verified document that provides transparency around the environmental impact of a product, from raw material extraction to manufacturing, use, and disposal.
In short, an EPD is a step beyond a badge or a claim; it’s solid, independently verified data that tells the real story of a product’s environmental footprint. And with sustainability at the core of everything we do, this was a challenge we were more than happy to take on – with a great deal of credit due to our fantastic product and compliance teams.
The glove and its many virtues (it is our biggest seller for good reason) remains the same. It’s still durable, lightweight, and provides level E cut protection - one of the most duarable cut resistant gloves on the market. Still suitable for use with touchscreen devices, in order to minimise time spent with gloves off. And it still features our LXT (Life eXtending Technology) treatment which improves durability and grip. The difference is that now, you can see the precise environmental impact from before the cradle to after the grave.
Why does this matter?
The demand for sustainable PPE solutions in industries such as construction, manufacturing, and logistics has never been greater. Businesses are actively working towards reducing their environmental impact, and procurement teams are under pressure to make more informed, responsible purchasing decisions. The introduction of an EPD for the TG6240 gives our customers something invaluable - complete clarity and confidence in the environmental impact of their hand protection choices.
We’re talking about something that’s bigger than a first for Traffi – it’s an important milestone for the entire safety glove industry- cut resistant gloves in particular. By setting a precedent for greater transparency and accountability, we hope to inspire others to follow suit, driving meaningful change towards green cut resistant gloves and more sustainable PPE solutions.
